Junior Achievement South Africa (JA South Africa) is seriously concerned about individuals attempting to exploit the Junior Achievement, Social Equity Program by posing as scammers. The Social Equity Program, in collaboration with the Z Zurich Foundation, is designed to empower South African youth between the ages of 16 and 35 by building skills in entrepreneurship, leadership, and mental well-being.
The program, which is entirely free for participants, includes four-day bootcamps followed by three months of mentorship and coaching by industry leaders for the winning teams. These events are held at universities and community centers with Wi-Fi access, allowing participants to complete the JA Digital Entrepreneurship Education Program (JA Deep).
“Scammers attempting to capitalize on the goodwill of our program are deeply concerning,” says Bonga Khumalo, National Programs Manager at Junior Achievement South Africa. “We want to assure all potential participants that the Social Equity Program is designed to be accessible and cost-free. We urge anyone approached by individuals demanding fees to contact us immediately.”
Important Reminders for Potential Participants:
- No Fees: Be wary of any individual or group asking for payment. Participation in the Social Equity Program is entirely free.
- Duration and Location: The program lasts four days and takes place at designated community centers or higher education institutions.
- Provided Meals: Meals are offered free of charge to all participants throughout the four-day bootcamp.
- Official Partnership: This initiative is brought to you by Junior Achievement South Africa, in partnership with the Z Zurich Foundation.
