Friday, 9 February 2024. Johannesburg, Gauteng; Junior Achievement South Africa, in partnership with Delta Air Lines is excited to stimulate entrepreneurial thinking amongst South African youth. The JA Delta Lead one day Innovation Bootcamp hosted today at the Regent Business School saw ten teams of 100 learners across five schools in Gauteng, solve real-life case studies and gain hands-on experiential activities, challenging students to think outside the box and and gained an elevated interest in STEM education and its related career paths. Learners received a keynote address from Timothy Maurice Webster, behavioral psychologist and renowned author sharing on the importance of building a personal brand.
The learning doesn’t stop here. All 100 young learners will proceed to complete the Junior Achievement Digital Entrepreneurship Education Platform(also referred to as JA DEEP) . JA DEEP, is JA Africa’s first program offering in its virtual skills lab, is an online-based interactive entrepreneurship curriculum, created specifically for young African learners.
The program allows learners the opportunity to experience the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship by walking them through the process of starting and operating a business that fills a need or solves a problem in their communities. Learners have the opportunity to put theory into practice from idea generation, product development, capitalization of the venture, marketing and sales strategy development and financial reporting, while being supported with digital or in-person mentorship from a JA corporate volunteer.
After three weeks of completing the JA DEEP, the ten of the young leaders selected at the launch camp will go to Ghana to participate in a five day regional LEAD Camp taking place in March. The LEAD Camp Social Impact Projects, and the culminating event of the five-day regional LEAD Camp for 30 girls (top 10 LEAD Camp winners from Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa) and will form as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations in March.

We are also grateful to renowned psychologist Timothy Maurice Webster who inspired our future leaders with keys to personal brand and the importance thereof,” says Nelo Spies, Managing Director of Junior Achievement South Africa.
