    DELTA AIR LINES INNOVATION CAMP

On Friday 13th of March, JA South Africa in partnership with Delta Air Lines hosted 100 inspiring minds from the University of Johannesburg’s – Faculty of Applied Information System (AIS), for Delta Air Lines Innovation camp 2020.

The students were invited to creatively problem-solve some of the pressing issues in the aviation industry.

Students were divided into six teams and were presented with unique scenarios, drawing on some of the challenges faced by Delta Air Line customers and were tasked to come up with innovative solutions.

In an effort to steer the robust discussions and improve students’ perceptions and interest in STEM education and future careers, particularly in IT and Engineering – students were provided with industry-leading experts as mentors, from Delta, IBM, PMI, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Marsh & McLennan Companies, Microsoft and lecturers from the (AIS) department.

Upon completion of the one-day camp, all students received a certificate of completion. The first and second runners up teams, receiving a one-week long project management course from PMI. This, whilst each member from the winning team, received Samsung tablets, thanks to Delta Air Lines. This is what one of the learners from the winning team had to say: JA South Africa on Twitter
