    BEREAVEMENT NOTICE

It is with great sadness that we inform the JA Family, stakeholders and the youth development community of the untimely passing of our Board Patron Mrs Dolly Mokgatle. Mrs Mokgatle served the organisation with outstanding foresight and humility for over a decade.

She joined JA South Africa in March 2007 as a non-executive Board member, subsequently becoming the Chairperson of the Board from 2009 to 2019. She stayed on as the Patron until her untimely passing on the 9th January 2021.

Mrs Mokgatle was a respected businesswoman and a member of over thirty boards of local and international companies. She was also an Executive Director and co-founder of Peotona Group Holdings, a women-owned and managed company.

She was a qualified lawyer and served Litigation Officer of the Black Lawyers Association Legal Education Centre and was the first woman, and person of colour to serve as the managing director of the Transmission Group at Eskom. She also served as the Chief Executive officer at Spoornet in 2005.

Mrs. Mokgatle’s passion and dedication to youth development have inspired many young entrepreneurs and professionals to reach their full potential. She also spearheaded and funded the JA South Africa Women in Entrepreneurship Network. She will be sorely missed.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mokgatle family, all her friends and colleagues during this period of grief.

With deep sympathy, JA South Africa.
