We have been monitoring the increased presence of COVID-19 in the country over the last few weeks. As JA South Africa we remain committed to the safety of our staff, students, volunteers, partners, and supporters. Our hearts go out to anyone who has been infected or affected by the virus.
In line with public health advice and what other affected JA member offices are doing, we will be implementing the following:
Working remotely
Our working hours will remain 08:30 -16:30, there will be someone to take calls on the office landline (+27 11 331 3150) and redirect calls if necessary – our teams will be just as available to you as they always have been. We will also utilise the various platforms including WhatsApp, Zoom, and Skype, and will engage with stakeholders directly to discuss preferred methods of communication. Full-time staff members we still go to the office if necessary and our part-time staff will be available to you assist virtually in the provinces.
Suspend contact training sessions
All classroom training and certifications have been suspended until the 14th April.
Continue creating platforms of opportunity online
We remain committed to ensuring continuous development for our youth. We will be conducting virtual mentoring & coaching sessions on our out of school programmes – this will be done by full-time staff members, agents and volunteers.
Current in-school programmes will continue online and we will support the students via WhatsApp and telephone should the situation not improve. We will be using our online Digital Enterprise Programme and sourcing other JA Worldwide online programmes as we well as sharing complementary programmes from our partners. We are already getting requests for mentoring and virtual support opportunities from our partners, should you be interested please log on to https://jasa.org.za/mentor-on-a-jasa-programme/ and complete the form.
We will continue to be in touch as new information emerges.
Please be safe and take care.
Kind regards,
NELLY MOFOKENG
