    JA South Africa seeks to appoint a Finance Manager to be based in Johannesburg.
     
    Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), the appointed Finance Manager will be responsible 
    for providing strategic contribution and financial expertise to the management team. He/she will be expected to enhance operational efficiency, integrity and transparency of financial and administration operations, based on the needs of the organisation. Enhancing donor compliance and the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which our financial, administration, physical and information resources are managed, will also be a core responsibility.

     
    Key responsibilities:

    • In conjunction with the MD, develop and implement the organisation’s strategy;

    ·       Develop the annual budgets for the organisation in consultation with the MD and the National Programmes Manager 

    ·       Presents annual budgets to the Audit Committee Sub-Committee of the Board for review

    ·       Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the objectives established for the financial and administrative operations in the operating budget 

    ·       Prepare and submit monthly progress reports to the internal Executive Committee against these budgets 

    ·       Review the performance of the organisation as well as programme expenditure against budget, and report to the Executive Management on any aspects as necessary, ensuring that corrective action is taken if required.

    ·       Work out the financial logistics organisational/programme expansion and the possible losses that could occur. 

    ·       Ensure that the general accounting requirements as established by Government, Board and Auditors are complied with

    ·       Manage entire financial system and processes, including transaction processing, reconciliations, payments, general ledger entries, payroll, and any other activities related to good financial management

    ·       Prepare donor specific financial reports as required 

    ·       Review and authorise payroll, ensuring that all hiring, terminations, payment of taxes, medical aid etc. are timeously processed

    ·       Maintain all statutory records and all legal documentation related to leases, etc., and manage all insurance requirements

    ·       Regularly review systems and procedures used in the financial and administrative function of the organisation

    ·       Manage relationships with the bankers of the organisation

    ·       Develop and maintain good relations with the organisation’s auditors and ensures compliance with all audit requirements

    ·       Advise the organisation on all changes associated with labour relations, companies act, taxation etc. as advised by the auditors 

    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the MD

    Requirements:

    ·       Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or equivalent, and SAICA qualification with valid membership

    ·       Strong leadership skills, with the ability to easily engage peers, supervisors and subordinates, be  results focused and open to new ideas 

    ·       Has more than ten years’ experience in financial management, three years at management level, which includes large donor funded projects.

    ·       Proven strategic and analytical thinking capabilities

    ·       Is customer centric with superior communication (written and oral), relationship building and management skills

    ·       Strong consensus-building skills with the ability to drive change and innovation
