    CODING AND ROBOTICS INNOVATION CAMP

    Date:     Friday 13th March 2020

On the 13th March 2020, JA South Africa, partnered with Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions to implement the Coding & Robotics Innovation Camp.

The camp, held at the Sci-Bono Discovery Center, saw 94 grade, 7 students, from Reahile Primary School in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni come together at the in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

The one-day camp, exposed learners to careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The day kicked off with learners gaining an understanding of the Future of work in light of developments towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The facilitating company – GoDigitalSA – presented learners with a hypothetical flooding challenge that called on teams to be proactive and come up with a prototype that would combat this natural disaster.

Learners were divided into six teams and supported by facilitators and industry experts from GoDigital, IBM and PMI with the expectation to come up with an innovative solution to the problem presented.

The curious grade 7 teams, with the support of their mentors and industry experts really impressed the panel of judgesLeaving the winning team, Team WIFI, walking away with Samsung tablets for each member of their team.

JA South Africa is proud of this partnership, which has seen us broaden our reach and create platforms of opportunity!
